How Psychedelic Drugs Can Help Patients Face Death

This NYT article tells the story of several terminally ill patients who used psychedelics like ecstasy,  magic mushrooms and LSD to calm anxieties before a death they knew was coming. The drugs helped them to change their outlook on life and death and approach the latter with a more peaceful state of mind than they would have otherwise. This could be a very interesting argument in favor of allowing these Schedule I drugs for certain medical uses because, in the cases discussed in this article, the costs/risk seem non-existent compared to the benefits.
